Alumna Poet Lynne Thompson ‘72 to Speak at Scripps

CLAREMONT, Calif. (February 21, 2008) — Poet Lynne Thompson, Scripps alumna class of ’72, will present her 2007 Perugia Press prize-winning work, Beg No Pardon, at noon on February 26 in the Hampton Room, Malott Commons, Scripps College. The lecture is free and open to the public.

During her years at Scripps, Thompson served as the student council president and, upon graduation, was the recipient of the Annual Alumnae Award for service to the College. She is a former Lois Langland Alumna-in-Residence and former president of the Scripps Alumnae Association. Thompson earned her J.D. at Southwestern School of Law and is currently the manager of employee relations at UCLA. Her poetry has been published in several literary magazines, including Rattle, Louisiana Literature, The Yalobusha Review, and Pearl. Her collection, Beg No Pardon,is about the formation of identity in an Afro-Caribbean world.
