Festival Del Cuatro Concert to Honor Women
CLAREMONT, Calif. (November 12, 2008) — The 3rd annual Festival del Cuatro concert will honor Puerto Rican women, as well as all women who struggle in supporting a cause, this Saturday, November 15, at 6:30 p.m. in Garrison Theater in the Scripps College Performing Arts Center.
The concert features Emma Colón Zayas, Maribel Delgado, and Nelian Colón, three of the best cuatro players in the world. The women will perform traditional Puerto Rican music on the cuatro, the Puerto Rican national instrument. The ten-stringed cuatro is used to play Puerto Rican traditional jibaro, salsa, classical, and other types of modern music; one will be raffled off as part of the evening’s events.
Edwin Colon Zayas y su Taller Campesino, fresh from the Latin Grammys, will also accompany the performers throughout the evening.
